Keynsham Town 3 v 2 Almondsbury UWE

Unbelievably the Ks fought back from a 2-0 deficit for the sixth time this season, this time to gain all 3 points against Almondsbury UWE on Tuesday night.

On a wet and windy evening, Almondsbury started the game much brighter and were rewarded with two early goals. Ks looked a little sluggish after the tough game against Oldland at the weekend, and had to dig deep in this one.

They gradually started to find a foothold in the game. First half substitute Tom Harris then scored with his first touch to get it back to 2-1 before the break and this gave Ks renewed believe once more.

With the second half just 10 minutes in, an Almondsbury defender was red carded for a bad tackle on Sam Duggan who had to come off with a badly damaged ankle.

This turned the game in Ks favour and with the attacking momentum building they equalised soon after, Tom Harris again the scorer, this time from a Ben Harris pull back.

With Almondsbury tiring, Ks took full advantage of the extra man and were awarded a penalty on 65 minutes. Tom Harris had the opportunity to get his first ever hat-trick for Keynsham, but hit the left hand post. He pounced on the rebound but the referee chalked off the goal as no other player had touched the ball.

But Ks weren’t to be denied their 7th straight victory. On 70 minutes Aaron Childs drifted inside to unleash an unstoppable left foot shot into the bottom corner from 20 yards.

Further chances should have killed the game off, but Ks eventually saw the game out to win 3-2 and remain unbeaten at home in both league and cup so far this season.

A great effort by all the players, winning two tough games in quick succession.
