ALLEN’S EXCELLENCE BEATEN BY HARRIS’ BRILLIANCE
Westbury United 2-3 Keynsham Town
Westbury couldn’t quite force a late equaliser as they had in the return fixture a few months ago but in all honesty Keynsham should have won more comfortably. Visiting winger Ben Harris made amends for wasting a 1st half penalty, however Shav Allen’s excellent return after suspension ensured a closer outcome than anticipated.
A scrappy start to the match was only highlighted by Ashley Wintle’s save from an Allen header and good work by Ben Forester when Harris got into the penalty area.
Wintle made the save of the afternoon from Dan Moore and, having seen parity maintained, his side were then awarded a penalty for Nathan Hallett-Young’s foul on Bertrand Abang ; Harris took the spot kick which home keeper Forester saved with his legs.
Abang latched onto Pat Davison’s pass on the half hour and produced a lovely finish to make it 0-1 at half time.
Town started the 2nd half on top and Jordan Anstey, Davison and Rob Sheriton all wasted chances before Harris scored a long ranger to double his side’s lead on 62.
United began to claw their way back into the game with quarter of an hour remaining ; Forester’s long ball found Shav Allen whose work rate on the right of the box was rewarded with a low cross and Moore’s close range finish.
Keynsham restored their 2 goal lead straight away when Harris went on a great run and unleashed another excellent strike, however a nerve racking finish was ensured by Allen who hit a brilliant bicycle kick from the edge of the box when a half clearance of Jordan Cain’s corner kick fell to him.
