2015/16 Season Update
Pre-season training started on Thursday 25th June and will be held every Tuesday and Thursday up until the start of the season in August. Please contact first team manager Chris King if you would like to attend, we always welcome new players to the club. There is of course a high level of commitment needed at Western League level with games every Saturday throughout the season, along with midweek games.
We have pre-season friendlies lined up against Tytherington Rocks, Winterbourne, Fry Club, Hallen, Tintinhull FC, and will also be entering a team into the Fry Cup again this year (17th July). The 2015/16 league season starts on Saturday 8th August.
Keynsham Town 0 v 1 Bristol City
The club are celebrating a successful day last Sunday (5th July) when we played Bristol City in the second half of the annual community match. We fielded a mix of youth and experience for the game and the lads involved were a credit to the club both on and off the field. As expected City had the majority of possession during the 45 minutes, but we gave them a very competitive game, restricting them to mainly long range efforts. We looked organised defensively and dangerous on the counter attack with Ben Harris and Jamie Noble both creating chances after good runs. Ash Wintle made a superb penalty save on 20 minutes to keep the scores level and it looked like we were heading for a draw, but one lapse in concentration right at the end of the half gifted them a winner with virtually the last kick. It was a shame to concede late on, but 1-0 against a Championship club was a great achievement from our players and should give them lots of confidence going into the new season.
