After “8 Months and 9 Days” the Under 13 Lions football season came to an end !!!

It was a good season for the boys in their first year of 11 a-side football.   We saw them play some excellent football, scoring plenty of goals with all 16 squad players playing their part and performing well as a team.

The season finished with us amassing a total of 36 Points.  11 Wins, 3 Draws and 7 Defeats (and 1 fixture not completed).  For a team created from a mixture of players from two teams, the players can all be very proud of themselves.

The total of 36 points meant we finished 5th in Division 4 of the Avon Youth League – Well done you Lions !!

We scored 64 goals (league and cup goals) and these were spread across the team.  Our top goal scorer being Joe Parker (JP) – Well done Joe.

Congratulations go to Louie Feltham who was the Player’s Player this season.  Louie received his trophy at the Keynsham Town Junior Club Funday (8 May 2016).  What was good to see was that there were a number of players nominated for the trophy this year.

After a considerable number of years at the club, we say goodbye to Oli O’Sullivan – Oli was one of the star players during the 2015/16 season – We will miss him both as a player and a squad member but wish him well across the other side of the fence at Keynsham Rugby Club.  Oli has been a pleasure to work with over the years and has been a role model for all to follow at the club.  He started off as a Goalkeeper but finally found his true position as a Centre Back.  Good luck Oli.

We say a Big “Thank You” to our Sponsors “Wards Solicitors” for providing us with our 2015/16 kit.  With a special mention and thanks to Jane Sanger our contact at Wards Solicitors who arranged the sponsorship.

Since writing this, Matt Dalton and his son Callum have decided to have a break away from football for the 2016/17 season.  We thank Matt for all the time he has given in helping train and manage the players who have been with him over the past 7 years.  We say good luck to Matt and Callum for the future.

Well Done the Lions on a great 2015/16 Season…….
